Your first hour in Broodwing — the short list

  • Redeem all three codes (10kmembers, duck, barnowl) for 2,500 free Plumes before anything else.
  • Learn takeoff and landing before you chase prey across the valley.
  • Hunt near water first — fish are the easiest early food source.
  • Do not rush the nest — eat, grow, and pick a spot with food nearby.

Before You First Spawn

Broodwing is free on Roblox, so entry is simple: open the official game page and press Play. Servers hold up to 35 players, and the game runs on the standard Roblox client.

Two things are worth knowing on day one. First, the game is currently named [BarnOwl] Broodwing — the bracketed bird is the newest species, which right now means the Barn Owl update is the headline content (see Barn Owl Update). Second, the in-game currency is Plumes, and the fastest Plumes you will ever get come from Codes — do that first.

Step 1 — Learn to Fly

Flight is the skill everything else sits on. Your goals in the first ten minutes:

  1. Find open spaceTake off from open ground so your first climb has no trees in the way.
  2. Check the real controlsBroodwing sets its own flight bindings inside the experience — open the in-game controls list instead of copying keybindings from other bird games. The Flight Controls explains where to look.
  3. Climb, steer, returnPractice one loop: climb, fly a wide circle, and land where you started. Do it until landing feels boring.

The full technique breakdown — altitude, gliding and landing — lives in How to Fly.

Step 2 — Eat Your First Meal

The valley offers two confirmed prey types: fish and rabbits. For a brand-new bird, fish are usually the calmer start — they keep you near water, low to the ground, and close to where you will later want a nest. Bunnies require more approach work, covered in How to Hunt Bunnies.

The general hunting flow for both is in the Hunting: Fish and Bunnies.

Step 3 — Redeem the Codes

Three codes were verified active on October 31, 2026 (GameRant):

CodeReward
10kmembers1,000 Plumes
duck500 Plumes
barnowl1,000 Plumes

That is 2,500 Plumes for about a minute of typing. Plumes speed up growth, nest building and feeding chicks — exactly the three things a beginner is about to need. Full redemption steps and expiry policy: Codes.

Step 4 — Plan Your First Nest

Once you can fly reliably and feed yourself, the family stage begins: a nest, then eggs, then chicks. Beginner-friendly nest advice in one line — build where food and water are close, because you will fly that route many times a day. The reasoning and the scouting routine are in Best Nest Locations, and the build flow itself in How to Build a Nest.

Beginner Mistakes to Avoid

Skipping the codes

Every code is free Plumes. Redeeming them takes one minute and funds your entire first nest. Do it before you leave spawn.

Trusting copied keybindings

Guides that paste exact keys from other bird games are guessing. The in-experience control list is the only reliable source.

Nesting in a food desert

A pretty cliff far from water means long feeding runs once chicks arrive. Scout before you build.

Playing solo forever

Broodwing is built around families — co-parenting splits the hunting. See Join a Family.

Broodwing Beginner Guide — FAQ

What should I do first in Broodwing?

Redeem the three active codes for 2,500 Plumes, then practice takeoff and landing, then hunt fish near water. Nest building comes after those three feel comfortable.

Which bird should a beginner pick?

The Duck and the Barn Owl are the confirmed playable birds. No stat differences between them are published, so pick the look you enjoy — you can read the roster in the all playable birds guide.

Do I need Robux to enjoy Broodwing?

No. The game is free, and game passes only buy appearance variants like melanistic and leucistic coloring. Codes cover your early Plumes for free.

How long does the chick stage take?

Growth timers are not published. Chicks do grow into adults as part of the core loop, and Plumes speed the process up, but exact durations are still unverified.
